Rio - Day 1 @ Ipanema Beach

Jason treated me to a shopping day our first day in Rio. I got to go to the mall, find new swimsuits, buy some new clothes, stock up on beachwear, and pamper myself at the salon! Now that's the life! Then we spent a few hours in the afternoon at Ipanema Beach.


Luke loves the beach, and he ESPECIALLY loved his new swimsuit and shirt (and flip flops) from Mimi and Granddad!

The Ipanema waves were H.U.G.E! They bowled Luke over every time, and he loved it! He called it "getting donked." He had so much sand in his hair it was unreal! He kept getting knocked over; then he'd get back up, turn to face the waves, stick his pointer fingers in the air and shout, "WHOO-HOO!!!" Just like his Daddy!

The undertow was pretty scary, too, so we stayed super close to Luke.

Late in the afternoon, he got too cold in the water, and he asked Jason to bury him in sand. Jason happily obliged!
